Over 350 projects by India- SL Foundation

The India- Sri Lanka Foundation has implemented 352 projects in the
last 13 years and the foundation has extended assistance amounting to
Rs. 65 million on these projects, Indian High Commissioner and India-
Sri Lanka Foundation Co-Chairperson Ashok K.Kantha said.
The High Commissioner was addressing the media after the conclusion
of the 28th India- Sri Lanka Foundation Directors Session held in
Colombo recently.
He said the Foundation Directors approved 27 projects for full and
partial funding in education, culture, science and technology. The
Foundation Directors Board approved proposals to implement a programme
to exchange visits by journalists between the two countries.
Speaking on the occasion, Co-Chairperson and Sri Lankan High
Commissioner to India Prasad Kariyawasam said; "All these projects will
commence within the next two months and they are scheduled to be
completed within a year.
He said the foundation has carried out many productive programmes
during the past 13 years.
The foundation was established by an MoU between the Sri Lankan and
Indian governments in 1998 to forge closer ties between the two
countries in education, socio- economic, technological and cultural
fields.
