Census in full swing

The collection of data for Sri Lanka's 14th Housing and Population
Census is being carried out efficiently at district level, the Gampaha,
Galle and Kalutra district coordinators told the Daily News yesterday.
Gampaha District Coordinator D S Jayakodige said that 8,000
invigilators in 13 DSDs covering 1,177 Grama Niladari Divisions
commenced data collection on Monday after a month's special training. He
said that a data collection sheet includes 29 questions for an
individual. House to house data collection of this phase extends until
March 19. One invigilator would visit about 150 houses. The amendment
and confirmation round begins on the night of March 19. The day of the
census is set for March 20.
He said that the first district result,including the number of houses
and persons would be released on March 22. The detailed and analyzed
final district result would be released on March 28.
