'President committed to implement LLRC recommendations'

Senior Minister Prof Tissa Vitarana yesterday said that the President and the government are very much committed towards the implementation of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission's (LLRC) recommendations.

"President Mahinda Rajapaksa is very clear that the recommendations of the LLRC appointed by him should be implemented," he said. The minister said that all recommendations cannot be implemented overnight and the government has already implemented a number of recommendations related rmer LTTE cadres and development of infrastructure facilities in war torn areas in the Northern province.

Prof Vitarana said that the country has made tremendous strides towards reconciliation though it has limited resources.
