Unreserved Cuban support to SL

The Cuban government in a message yesterday expressed unreserved support to Sri Lanka at the 19th United Nations Human Rights Council sessions in Geneva .

The special message sent by Cuban President Raul Castro in this regard was handed over to Construction, Engineering Services and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa by Cuban ambassador in Sri Lanka Nirsia Castro Guevara at the ministry yesterday.

The Cuban ambassador said that her country views that the allegations of human rights violations against Sri Lanka are baseless and Cuba will stand by Sri Lanka in all times.

She said that the Cuba and other friendly nations are prepared to defeat any resolution against Sri Lanka at the 19th UN Human Rights Council sessions. Minister Weerawansa thanked the Cuban government for extending support to Sri Lanka at this crucial juncture.
