Stolen TV sold to monk

A man was arrested by Ingiriya Police for allegedly stealing a 52 inch LCD television worth over Rs 2 00,000 from a house at Ingiriya which had been sold to a monk. The Police found the television from a temple in Ratnapura. "The owner of the house is living abroad. His wife, two children and servant are the only occupants. The occupant's wife and two children had slept in the upper floor and servant on the ground floor on the day of the incident.

Police arrested a suspect aged 30 following investigations. Investigations revealed that the suspect had pawned it to a man living near the Kettarama stadium.

The suspect told the Police that he had informed a monk in Ratnapura about the television which he purchased. Investigations are continuing.
