The Iraqi government has agreed to offer employment and job oriented
training for Sri Lankans in a variety of fields.
This agreement was reached following discussions between a Sri Lankan
delegation led by Foreign Employment and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera
and Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) chairman Amal
Senadhilankara in Iraq. “Following fruitful discussions, the two
countries signed an MoU to strengthen employment and job oriented skills
training for Sri Lankans in Iraq,” an SLBFE source said.
Initially, opportunities will be available in the hospitality and
construction sectors, the source added.
The Iraqi government was represented by its Labour and Social
Services Minister Nazar Al Aba and officials in the fields of human
resources and social services.
This is the first time that the two countries had reached an
agreement of this nature. |
