“All Sri Lankans keeping aside all divisive factors should join hands
to safeguard the country from international influences at this crucial
hour, prominent artistes representing all artistes in the country urged.
Addressing a press conference held at the National Film Corporation
yesterday, artistes requested the public to join in the protest rally
today to show the world that Sri Lanka is internally strong, united and
ready to defeat any international plot against the country.
They observed that the hidden intention behind the resolution of the
US led Western countries at the United Nations Human Rights
Council(UNHRC) is to pave the way to file a case against Sri Lanka at
the International Criminal Court over human rights allegations, and
thereby to issue warrants on the country’s political and military
leadership. They observed that the LTTE international network has been
actively engaging in his mission.
They noted that the newly found independence and freedom of the
country on May 20,2009 should not let to be hampered once again even
before the lapse of three years.
They requested the people to rise up to strengthen the country’s
leadership without allowing the country to fall in to the hands of
“American political terrorism”.
They urged the public to join hands at this moment giving out the
message,”Do not touch our country. We can solve our own problems and do
not disturb the development path that we are taking”.
They also urged the public not to get carried away by certain NGOs
and opposition political parties which attempt to create unnecessary
violence and turbulence within the country using sensitive topics, such
as, the fuel price hike and cost of living.
Artistes Somarathna Dissanayake, Deepika Priyadarshini, Asoka
Serasinghe, Jackson Anthony, Arjun Kamalanath, Rohana Weerasinghe,
Palitha Silva and Douglas Siriwardena participated in the press
conference representing the country’s artistes. |
