Peterites in a strong position

St.Peter's College were in a strong position taking the first lease of the wicket scoring 176 runs at the inter school under 19 cricket match against Joseph Vaz College,Wennappuwa which began at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

Peterites won the toss and put Joseph Vaz to bat first..But , they were skittled out for a paltry 84 runs.Miyushan Obris contributed 30 runs for Joseph Vaz .Julian de Zilwa was the most impressive among the bowlers bagging 4 for 22. In reply, St.Peter's College scored 176 runs in 45.1 overs. Shehan Fernando hit 39 runs while Shashin Fernando contributed with 31 runs.Right arm off spinner Ransi Deepankara restricted Peterite batting side with superb figures of 8 for 58.

Joseph Vaz : 84 ( Miyushan Obris 30, Julian De Zilwa 4 for 22, Ali Khan 2 for 17, Udaka Galhena 2 for 19) and 64 for 6 ( Mahesh Fernando 17, Julian De Zilwa 2 for 14, Dushan Hemantha 2 for 11)

St.Peter's : 176 ( Shehan Fernando 39,Shashin Fernando 31, Janith Liyanage 28,Ransi Deepankara 8 for 58, Matheesha Vibodha 2 for 21)
