First innings win for Rajans

Dharmaraja College, Kandy gained a first innings win over Zahira College, Colombo in their Division I schools cricket tournament match concluded yesterday at Prison Grounds, Pallekele.

The main feature of the match was outstanding bowling performance by Rajans leg-spinner Aravinda Withanachchi who took a match bag of 10 wickets for 132 runs.

Zahira did better in the second innings scoring 308 for 8.

Zahira first innings 138 all out in 35.4 overs (Basith Marikkar 49, Maheer Mohamed 48, Imtaz Razik 20, Aravinda Withanachchi 5 for 37, Ruchiran Pupulewatte 3 for 51).

Zahira second innings 308 for 8 in 77 overs (Lakshan Edrisinghe 78, M I Mohamed 75, Salman Fasil 53, Dilshad Hilmy 33, Aravinda Withanachchi 5 for 95).

Dharmaraja first innings 210 for 6 overnight and 244 for 9 in 72 overs declared. (Deneth Lanka 50, Viraj Karaputugala 79, Kavinda Ratnayake 33, Lakshman Edirisinghe 4 for 54, Pradeep Ananda 3 for 36).
