The Sinhala movie, Matha, which depicts the human operation mission
of the Sri Lankan Security Forces and the reality of war against
terrorism will be screened islandwide at CEL theatres at a 50 percent
discount on February 27, Economic Development Deputy Minister Lakshman
Yapa Abeywardena said.
He was addressing the media at the Government Information Department
yesterday.
The screening of the film is one step in a series of events which are
to be carried out on the same day the UNHRC meets.
The government has started a campaign against the controversial
actions that are to be taken by certain countries, he said.
"President Mahinda Rajapaksa did not work to the agendas of these
countries. Therefore, they want to destroy the hard earned peace in the
country. As it is difficult to create an internal crisis, they have
started a campaign against the government," the deputy minister said.
"As long as the people of this country are with the government, no
force can challenge the democratically elected government and the
President," he said.
The deputy minister said the government has taken positive action
recommended by the LLRC and have set up a Parliamentary Select Committee
to probe issues. |
