Cader urges Muslims:
'Don't let external forces interfere in SL's affairs'
Rasika SOMARATHNA
Acting Environment Minister Abdul Cader yesterday called on Muslims
to demonstrate their opposition against attempts made by external forces
to interfere in the country's domestic affairs.
Referring to a possible resolution that may be presented against the
country at the United Nations Human Rights Council sessions, slated to
take - off on Monday, Cader said that people should forget petty
differences at this crucial juncture and stand united as one to ward off
any interference. He said that what Sri Lanka needs at present was the
support and understanding of the international community when the
country was looking forward towards a peaceful and prosperous future
after emerging from the three decade conflict.
Cader said that such a resolution could contribute to the reversal of
hard earned gains the country has made in all sectors in recent times.
He also called on Muslims to engage in early prayers on Monday ahead
of the start of the UNHRC sessions. He also called on people belonging
to all faiths to engage in religious observances in support of the
country. |
