Eliyakanda Hill Climb on February 25
The 15th annual Eliyakande Hill Climb (formerly known as the Browns
Hill Climb) organized by Southern Motor Sports Club (SMSC) is scheduled
for February 25 in Matara. The organizers have received a record number
of entries amounting to over 150 from both categories Cars (90) and
Motor Cycles.(60)
These drivers and riders are compete in 17 different Classes
specified by the Governing body for the sport. The main car events
spectators are looking forward to witness are the competitions in the
Formula Cars and the Super Car events which has attracted all leading
drivers for this particular events. In the Moto Cycles event all eyes
will be focused n the 250cc class Racing Bikes. Here too the leading
riders including the Champion rider Gayan Sandaruwan who is expected to
set a new course record this year. The Champion rider is to face stiff
opposition from young riders who are trying their best to make a name
for themselves in the Hill Climb championship or the year 2012.
Last year's winners in all these classes have entered this year's
championship hoping to maintain their supremacy for a further period of
time. In the car events it is expected that Dinesh Deheragoda, Pasindu
Peiris, Ashan Silva and Aravinda Premadasa to come top class driving as
these driver are the top contenders for the title. |
