We must develop hotel industry - Minister
Although we celebrated the 64th anniversary of independence recently,
we have lived almost half of that past period amidst death and
destruction and a serious threat to our independence. This may have been
caused due to our own shortcomings.
This is the most opportune time to reminisce as to what went wrong
said Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma.
The minister was addressing a meeting which followed the opening of a
new hotel school built at Anuradhapura by the Sri Lanka Vocational
Training Authority recently. The project had cost Rs 25 million.
Minister Alahapperuma said the newly opened hotel school should
strive to achieve an equal standard as the Sri Lanka Hotel School. The
Vocational Training Authority which is the apex decision maker as
regards vocational training hoped to open five hotel schools throughout
the country to cater to the increasing manpower demand of the hotel
industry.
