Expatriate worker's body brought to SL

The body of female Sri Lankan expatriate worker Wannaddige Gedera Gunawathie, 39, of Maduragoda, Dodangaslanda who is said to have died of a heart attack at her workplace in the Middle East was brought to Sri Lanka on Monday.

Gunawathie is said to have died on February 15 according to information received by the Sri Lankan embassy in the country she was working.

Gunawathie's husband said his wife went for employment abroad about two years ago through an employment agency in Ridigama.

However, he did not hear from Gunawathie for nearly one year after her departure.

Later, she informed him that she was facing a lot of harassment at the hands of her employer. The agency which learnt about the ill-treatment meted out to her had requested that she be sent back to Sri Lanka.

The death certificate sent along with her body stated that she had died of a heart attack.
