Isipathana-Thurstan clash on February 24 and 25

The traditional cricketing encounter, the 49th Thurstan -Isipathana big match will be played on February 24 and 25 when the players geton to field on both days at SSC grounds.

The encounter played for the Blackham Wijewardena memorial trophy will be the 49th in the series. So far Thurstan are in the lead with five wins while Isipathana has recorded one win less and ending the rest of the matches in draws.

The 32nd limited over match will be played at P Sarawanamuththu Stadium on March 4 while fans from both sides will witness their fifth Twenty20 at Prof. Stanley Wejesundara stadium on March 11.

Thurstan has won 16 one day encounters and Issipatana need one win to equal them. Both teams possess equal honours by winning Twenty20, two each.

Sajeewa Salgado leads Thurstan College while Harith Wanigarachchi will lead Isipathana to give a good challenge to their opponents.

Dialog Axiata poweres the match this time too.

The two sides have been unable to produce any results since 1999 with Thurstan winning the encounter 20 years ago in 1992 under Mackenzie Perera and Isipathana recording their last win in 1999 when the side was led by Krishantha Jayawardena.
