Two held over laptop theft

Two men who had stolen a laptop worth over Rs 200,000 from a house in Ingiriya were remanded until February 22 by Horana magistrate Mahinda Ranasinghe.

The suspects are residents of Handapangoda and Maha Ingiriya. The Police arrested the suspects in Handapangoda and also found the stolen laptop following information they provided. Investigations revealed that one suspect was a friend of the laptop owner.

The first suspect had been produced before court on seven previous occasions while three cases were still pending.

The second suspect had been produced before court twice, Police said. The owner of the laptop had come to Sri Lanka recently. One suspect had befriended him.

The suspect had stolen the laptop with the assistance of another suspect. The crime was committed during the day, police investigations revealed.

The suspects were nabbed on the instructions of OIC Udaya Kumara.
