President returns after successful S'pore state visit
President Mahinda Rajapaksa returned to the country yesterday
following a successful state visit to Singapore.
President Rajapaksa visited Singapore on Singaporean President Tony
Tan Keng Yam's invitation.
During his two-day official visit, President Rajapaksa held bilateral
meeting with the Singaporean President and Prime Minister Lee Hsien
Loong, Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen and Community Development, Youth
and Sports Minister Chan Chun Sing.
The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and Singapore Business
Federation signed an MoU to promote investment relations between the two
countries during the visit.
Under the MoU, the two countries are expected to strengthen
institutional relations between them.
Both organizations will, among other things, promote joint venture
collaborations between their private sectors, create a congenial
atmosphere for business and investment in all economic sectors of Sri
Lanka and Singapore, use their countries as a hub to trade and invest in
the region and exchange investment policies and information relating to
