SriLankan begins recruitment in A’pura

SriLankan Airlines added the Anuradhapura district to its national recruitment programme to create employment opportunities for promising young rural youth, to embark on rewarding careers as cabin crew of the national carrier.

The airline’s Human Resources team held preliminary interviews of hundreds of youth who have responded with eagerness, to take advantage of this opportunity.

After the interview process, the selected candidates will commence an intensive cabin crew Training Programme and a Personality Development Course followed by a series of tests, and then absorbed to a much sought after cabin crew career.

The airline has invested significantly in this programme to give all the necessary skills and confidence that the job demands.

SriLankan has already conducted recruitment drives in the districts of Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Badulla, Kalutara and Kandy with much success in attracting very promising, service-oriented youth to serve the national carrier.

“Our objective is to continue our search for rural talent and give equal opportunities to the youth in all parts of Sri Lanka, said SriLankan Chairman, Nishantha Wickremasinghe.

“The airline has major plans for expansion which will create many openings for the youth in the future,” he said.

Hundreds of cabin crew, now employed by SriLankan and several other airlines, have had the opportunity to be trained at SriLankan’s reputed Training Centre for over 3 decades, but this is the first time in history that the airline has reached out to the most remote parts of the country, to recruit its cabin crew.

The airline had a major presence in Deyata Kirula 2012 with a full contingent of staff manning its large booth, to enlighten visitors on the role of the national carrier, as well as its services to its network of 60 destinations in 33 countries.

The selected cabin crew candidates will be trained by an experienced group of trainers and external experts in safety procedures; customer service; communication; grooming & etiquette; and airline industry orientation and would undergo a series of tests to identify skills, confidence and personality strengths, before qualifying to fly as cabin crew.
