Student boxer's death:

Two suspects produced before magistrate

The Maharagama Police produced two suspects before Maharagama Magistrate Sumith Perera who were alleged to have been involved in connection with the death of a student who had died due to an internal haemorrhage, according to the medical evidence.

The student's mother informed courts that she suspects foul play and requested to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the death.

Senior Counsel Upali Senaratne who appeared for the suspects submitted to court that the suspects should be discharged as there was no evidence to prove that this was a murder, according to medical evidence before court. After the submissions by Senior Counsel Upali Senaratne and the Police the judge ordered the two suspects to be remanded till today.

The student's mother and another student of the boxing team of the same school gave evidence at the magisterial inquiry.
