Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities
Minister Wimal Weerawansa yesterday said that the United States has
resorted to action against Sri Lanka after the country succeeded in
eradicating the LTTE.
The minister was responding to a statement made by US Assistant
Secretary for South and Central Asia Robert O Blake that the US
government would put forward a resolution against Sri Lanka at the next
UN Human Rights Council.
Minister Weerawansa said that attempts to create divisions in the
country by nurturing a terrorist organisation were negated by the people
led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He said that the patriotic people of the country are ready to defeat
any attempt by the United States to intervene in the internal affairs of
the country under the guise of human rights.
The minister was of the view that the people of the country will not
be frightened in the face of subtle conspiracies.
