Special Task Force clinched the cup championship of the Police
Inter-division ten-a-side Rugby Championship with a runaway 41-0 win
over Police College, Kalutara in the final played at Maliyadeva College
grounds, Kurunegala recently.
Thirty seven teams including sides from Northern and Eastern Province
took part in this tournament and the teams were divided into eight
groups. The Plate Championship was won by Prime Minister's Security
Division while the Bowl Championship was bagged by Kalutara Division.
The shield championship was taken by Puttalam Division.
The tournament was conducted under the patronage of Senior DIG Asoka
Wijetillake while also present were DIG (NWP) Pujith Jayasundera, DIG (Kurunegala)
Ravi Wijegunawardena and former Police rugby players R.P. Linton and
Marasinghe Dharmakeerthi. |
