Eleven nabbed for multi-media screen theft

Wadduwa Police arrested 11 employees of a company in Colombo who had stolen a multi-media screen valued around Rs 150,000 from a hotel in Wadduwa. Police recovered the stolen property from the possession of a suspect. Investigations revealed that 11 employees from a company in Colombo had come to the hotel to decorate the main hall for a wedding.

They are alleged to have stolen the multi-media screen after completing the work.

Inspector Milan de Silva and Sgt Sugath Fernando arrested the suspects following a complaint lodged by the hotel manager.

Panadura magistrate R S A Dissanayake remanded 10 suspects pending further investigations

One suspect who pleaded guilty was granted personal bail in Rs 200,000 and released pending the identification and sentence.
