Thailand’s Kittiphong routs Sri Lanka’s Thangarajah

Thailand’s second seed Kittiphong Wachiramanowong got off to a fine start when he defeated his Sri Lankan opponent Thangarajah Dineshkanthan in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 and 6-4 in the opening match of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas group 11 Asia/Oceania Z tournament at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) courts yesterday.

Thailand’s number one Danai Udomchoke grabbed the second victory for the country when he out pointed Vimuktha de Silva of Sri Lanka by 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 in the following singles match on the same day.

Today Thangarajah Dineshkanthan and Amresh Jayawickrema will meet Sanchai Ratiwatana and Weerapat Doakmaiklee in the doubles between the two countries.

Tomorrow is the final day of the tournament where Vimuktha de Alwis and Kittiphong Wachiramanowong battle for supremacy in the singles.
