APEA to attract entrepreneurs

Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards, (APEA) Sri Lanka 2012 will be held on Sunday February 12, at the Hilton Colombo. This event has attracted many Malaysian VIPs to Colombo who will arrive this weekend. Malaysia is one of the biggest investor countries in Sri Lanka. Among the VIPs expected are Former Malaysian Minister for Human Resouces, Dr. Fong Chan Onn.

He served as the Minister of Human Resources of Malaysia from December 1999 to March 2008. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Minister of Education from October 1990 till December 1999. He is also the deputy chairman of University Tunku Abdul Rahman’s Council.

APEA is a regional recognition program for outstanding entrepreneurs across Asia. It is also a platform for Asian business leaders and entrepreneurs to network, share information and form lifetime acquaintances and alliances. There are 14 ASEAN nations in this program. They are Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Macau, Cambodia and India.

Sri Lanka was invited to join this elite group from 2012.
