Fire at fruit stall

Fruit, sweets, other items and Rs 15,000 in a fruit stall were destroyed following a fire at the stall on Wednesday night. No casualties were reported.

Residents put out the fire with the help of Ingiriya Police.

The fruit stall owner, K Wasantha Padmasiri said that he had been self- employed for 18 years and the stall was his only source of income.

Padmasiri said he found a broken oil lamp in the stall which did not belong to him.

Ingiriya Police are investigating.
