A Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus and two private buses have been added to the fleet of buses operating on the Southern Expressway to meet the growing demand from passengers.

The total number of buses plying on the Expressway has been increased to 11 with the addition of the new buses.

The total SLTB bus fleet has been increased to seven with the addition of the new bus.

"We will add more SLTB buses to the fleet as the Southern Expressway has become popular with a record crowd using the luxury services," SLTB chairman Sashi Welgama said.

The number of private buses have been increased to four with the addition of the two new buses.

Private Transport Minister C B Ratnayake said that they will be advised with regard to the legality and sustainability of the service.
