Homagama Hospital takes another significant step in health history
A 300-bed ward complex with modern technology will be donated by the
Bamunuarachchi Foundation to the Homagama Base Hospital on February 16.
This project was completed under the second stage of the master plan
created by Bamunuarachchi Foundation Chairman B A Mahipala with Central
Engineering Consultancy Bureau and the Health Ministry. Mahipala, the
youngest son of B A Semaneris Appuhamy gifted the Homagama Hospital to
the then government of Ceylon on February 10, 1946. The important
infrastructure facilities such as the General OPD and specialized
clinics have already been officially handed over to the government from
the same Foundation on February 16, 2009 under the first stage of this
master plan.
And in future, this foundation plans to build an operation theatre
complex under the next step of second stage of this master plan and
invites the people to participate in this project with contributions.
