Yohan and Chamara rescue NCC

A brilliant knock by Chamara Silva ( 158 ) and a superb unbeaten 173 by Chinthaka Jayasinghe helped Bloomfield C and AC to reach 500 for 6 and gain a first innings victory over NCC in the Premier League Tier A Tournament three day match concluded at Bloomfield grounds yesterday. NCC who were on follow on after having scored 213 all out in the first innings entered the game well in their second innings when opener Yohan de Silva (124) and Chamara Kapugedara (158) set up the 259 run partnership for the third wicket despite losing two early wickets for 31 runs.

Bloomfield first innings 500 for 6 declared.

NCC first innings 213 all out and 327 for 6 in the second innings (Yohan de Silva 124, Chamara Kapugedara 158, Vishwa Fernando 2 for 71).

Easy for Ragama CC

A fine batting performance by Ian Daniel (140) and Indika de Seram (88) of Ragama CC ably supported by two half centuries by Udara Jayasundara and Nayana Fernando helped them to score 495 runs in the first innings to defeat Chilaw Marians on the first innings who scored 207 all out.

Having put on to follow on Chilaw Marians were 180 for 3 at the close of 3rd day yesterday with Harsha Cooray on 51 no.

Ragama CC 495 all out in the first innings.

Chilaw Marians 207 all out and 180 for 3. (Harsha Cooray 51, Geeth Kumara 47).

Badureliya fight-back

Badureliya CC totalled up 263 all out in their second innings despite losing on first innings to Lankan CC by 104 runs where the latter scored 288 runs all out. In reply Lankan CC were 6 for no wicket at the close of the third day.

Thilina Masmulla (78) and Shehan Wijeratne (75) took Badureliya to a defensive score of 263. Gayan Sirisoma wrecked opponents batting with 6 wi

ckets for 87.

Badureliya SC 184 and 263 (Thilina Masmulla 78, Sahan Wijeratne 75, Gayan Sirisoma 6 for 87).

Lankan CC 288 and 6 for no wicket in the second innings.

SSC have the edge

SSC overcame Moors SC by 76 runs on the first innings on the last day of another encounter of the same tournament at Moors grounds.

Moeen Ali continued his batting spree from the previous day to reach 157 for Moors first innings total. SSC in their second innings were struggling at 45 for 5 as Dinuka Hettiarachchi grabbed 3 quick wickets while Shehan Jayasuriya collected two.

SSC 459 for 9 declared and 45 for 5 (Geeth Alwis 17 no, Dinuka Hettiarachchi 3 for 15, Jayasuriya 2 for 29).

Moors SC 383 all out (Moeen Ali 157, Amil Prasad 2 for 58).

Tamil Union in strong position

A team effort by recognized batsmen of Tamil Union C and AC helped them to secure a first innings victory over Colts CC at P Sarawanamuththu Stadium yesterday.

Tamil Union continued their reply to Colts first innings and were all out for 441. Colts were 124 for 4 at the close of play yesterday for their second innings.

Colts CC 308 and 124 for 4 (Anuk Silva 37, Harsha Vithana 33, Madusanka Ekanayaka 2 for 38).

Tamil Union 441 all out in the first innings. (Jeewantha Kulathunga 80, Gayashan Weerasekara 85, Viraj Pushpakumara 6 for 138).
