Suspect confesses to stealing cars, motorcycles

A suspect wanted in connection with the robbery of a car parked in Kiribathgoda town was arrested by Kiribathgoda Police on Friday. After interrogation, police also recovered another car and two motorcycles robbed by him. OIC Kiribathgoda Police I P U P S Priyantha said that one motorcycle was sold to a person in Meerigama and the other to a person in Kaduwela.

The suspect produced before Mahara magistrate court was released on bail.

Investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile, a three wheeler driver died and another was admitted to hospital, after the three wheeler collided with a private bus on Sunday.

Janaka Priyashantha, 35, of Dompe succumbed to his injuries while Samantha Pradeep Kumara, 34, was admitted to hospital when the three wheeler collided with a private bus at Udupila, Delgoda on the Kiribathgoda-Delgoda road.

The private bus was plying on the Colombo - Delgoda route.

The Police said the collision occurred when the bus attempted to over take the three wheeler.

Investigations are continuing. Meanwhile, a man transporting 270 grams of illicit liquor in a threewheeler was taken into custody by the special crime branch of the Kelaniya Police division headed by OIC SI Marawatte and a police party at Wattala on Friday.

The suspect produced before Wattala magistrate Manjula Ratnayake was fined Rs 150,000.
