Have you seen him?

W. A. Bembi Singho (85) a father of four of no. 35A, Nawala Nakiadeniya is reported missing from home since January 25. He was last seen in a white shirt resembling a national dress and a blue pyjama sarong.

On January 25, a child in the neighborhood had seen him travelling in a Galle-bound bus from Nakiyadeniya and he had said he was on his way to his native village Lathpandura, Baduraliya.

But he had not gone there either. Members of his family has sought public information to help trace him.

Any information regarding him should be furnished to Upali Ranjith, Udugama North, Udugama on 0719858193, W. A. Ranjini on 0728662313 or to the Yakkalamulla police station.


Help save his life

R.P.K. Jagath Prasanna (37) a father of two aged 10 and 6 years is suffering from Thyroid Cancer and doctors treating him have recommended continued Radioactive Iodine therapy to make his life stable.

The treatment to be done at a private hospital is estimated to cost Rs 152,000. Prasanna says he has been a small time businessman earlier but since he is unable to earn a livelihood by himself he is not in a position to foot this bill.

He requests philanthropists and the public to assist his cause and send whatever financial contributions possible to help him continue his treatment. All contributions should be remitted to account number 8330027439 at the Commercial Bank, Minuwangoda branch. Prasanna


Raid on cannabis chena

The Police Special Task Force (STF) raided a five acre cannabis chena in Tanamalvila and seized over 32,000 fully grown cannabis plants.

The STF made these raids during the last four days. Two suspects were arrested during the raids while a locally made firearm was also seized from the possession of one suspect.

The STF also seized 17 kgs of dried cannabis ready for sale, in the possession of the other suspect.

The suspect was drying the cannabis in Sugandan Ara in the Yala forest reserve when the STF nabbed him.


Cannabis dealers remanded

Two suspects who were involved in a cannabis dealing were remanded till February 16 by the Mount Lavinia magistrate yesterday.

Dehiwala Police arrested them on a tip off on Saturday at Bellantara junction, Dehiwala with four kilos of cannabis in their possession.


Dhamma discussion

Iranian film

A documentary film titled ‘Black Box’ will be screened at the auditorium of the Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on February 9 at 5.30 pm, at No. 06, Sir Earnest de Silva Mawatha, Colombo 7.

This documentary is based on some inside sectets of the 9/11 attack on twin towers at New York.

Black Box is directed by Mohamed Reza Eslamloo, with the French based journalist and researcher Thierry Maison and Produced by Mohamed Reza Eslamloo.

The Cultural Section of the Iran Embassy has invited journalists and other writers to view this documentary followed by a lecture on awakening of the Muslim world and the destruction of Zionist Regime.


Forty two ex- LTTEers to be rehabilitated

Forty two former LTTE combatants who were rehabilitated by the government will be reintegrated into society at a ceremony to be held at the Deyata Kirula exhibition premises tomorrow, under the patronage of Rehabilitation and Prisons Reforms Minister Chandrasiri Gajadheera.

Among the rehabilitated former LTTE combatants are six females from the Punththottam Rehabilitation centre in Vavuniya while the rest underwent rehabilitation in the Maradamadu, Kandakadu and Welikanda rehabilitation centres.

Four among them are attached to the musical group “Samaye Mithruro”.
