More electricity projects implemented in Kalutara

The Power and Energy Ministry provided electricity for 200 families
in the Kalutara District yesterday in a bid to provide electricity for
the entire country by the end of this year.
This provision was made through four projects in Kalutara district on
Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka's direction.
With these electricity extension projects, 96 percent of the Kalutara
district has been provided with electricity.
Ministry sources stated that the rest of the people in the Kalutara
district will enjoy electricity withing the next few months.
The projects included Ihala Hewessa Fruit Farm electricity project
implemented for the benefit of 53 families at a cost of Rs. 15.13
million, Gulanawatte electricity project implemented for the benefit of
52 families at a cost of Rs. 12.28 million, Hewessa and Mananhena
electricity projects implemented for the benefit of 92 families at a
cost of Rs. 12.45 million.
The total cost of the four projects amounts Rs. 40 million.
Power and Energy Ministry sources stated that another five
electricity projects were handed over to the public in the Northern
Province on February 5, 6 and 7.
He added that these projects were implemented in Vavuniya,
Medawachchiya, Kilinochchi and Jaffna.
He added Gampaha and Hambantota districts enjoy electricity 100
percent while 99 percent of the Colombo district enjoys electricity.
