The Inter-house sports meet of Mahamaya Girls’ College Kandy was held
on January 28 at the Bogambara Stadium under the patronage of Sarath
Ekanayaka, Chief Minister, Central Province. He was the chief guest at
the opening ceremony.

Air Chief Marshall, Roshan Goonetileke graced the occasion later as
chief guest of the prize giving. He was accompanied by his wife Mrs
Nelun Goonetileke. Teachers, parents and Well-wishers enjoyed every
minute of the meet since the events were all spectacular.
Sangamitta House emerged champions collecting 674 points overall.
Yasodhara House emerged runners-up with 309 points. Akshana Maralanda
was adjudged the Best Athlete of the school.
The next two places were won by Maya, Prajapathi Houses respectively.
The under 15 200 metres winners, Methma Athauda, (316),
flanked by Umasha Jayaratna (217) who was 2nd and Isuri
Alagoda (419), who was third. |
