Bloomfield in command

An unbroken partnership of 227 runs for the 5th wicket by Chamra Silva ( 126 no ) and Chinthaka Jayasinghe ( 125 no ) took Bloomfield C and AC to a formidable score of 413 for 4 against NCC on the first day in their Premier League Tournament Tier A first class three day match at their home ground yesterday.

Having won the toss Bloomfield chose to bat and opener Dilshan Munaweera scored 70 while Chamara Silva scored his second century of the tournament where he collected 126 runs off 140 balls including 13 fours and 4 sixes.

Chinthaka Jayasinghe hammered a run a balls 125 with 10 fours and 5 sixes. D Chameera, Sohan Boralessa and Roshan Lakmal took a wicket each.

Ian Daniel shines with bat

Openers Ian Daniel (140) and Udara Jayasundara (56 ) gave the right start by setting a first wicket partnership of 136 runs for Ragama CC in another encounter against Chilaw Marians at Colts grounds on the same day to reach 345 for 4 at close of play.

Daniel faced 223 balls for his 140 which included 14 fours and one six. Middle order batsman Indika de Seram made a valuable contribution with 88 runs which came in 99 balls, including 11 fours and one six.

Gayan rips Baduraliya CC

A superb bowling spell of 6 for 54 including a hat-trick by Gayan Sirisoma of Lankan CC restricted Baduraliya CC to 184 all out in another match of the same tournament at the Tyronne Fernando Stadium, Moratuwa yesterday.

Apart from Hans Fernando 41 and T M Sampath 30, all other batsmen went back to pavilion for very cheap scores. In reply Lankan CC were 83 for 2 with Damith Hunukumbura on 51 no at the close of play on the first day.

Baduraliya CC: 184 all out in the first innings (Hans Fernando 41, T M Sampath 30, Gayan Sirisoma 6 for 54, Sujeewa de Silva 2 for 46)

Thilan steers SSC

Thilan Samaraweera (105 no) who was well supported by Dasun Shanaka (59 no) took SSC to 314 at the end of first day in their encounter against Moors on the same day, at Moors grounds.

Opener Geeth Alwis (57) helped give his team a good start while Samaraweera scored 105 in 122 balls with seven boundaries. Dasun Shanaka hammered his unbeaten 59 in 63 balls with four sixes and four boundaries.

Equal honours

Two half centuries by Roshan Silva ( 84 ) and Akshu Fernando ( 50 ) and valuable contribution from the middle order batsmen helped Colts to reach 297 for 9 in their match against Tamil Union CC at the P Sarawanamuththu Stadium yesterday.

Isuru Udana, Chatura Randunu and Kithruwan Vithanage took 2 wickets each to restrict Colts below 300 on the first day.

Colts CC: 297 for 9 (Roshan Silva 84, Akshu Fernando 50, Anuk Silva 40, Isuru Udana 2 for 42, Randunu 2 for 83, Vithanage 2 for 24).
