Inter school under 19 cricket:
Even exchanges at Reid Avenue

Exchanges were even at the end of the first day's play in the inter
school under 19 cricket match between Royal College and St.Peter's
College which began at Reid Avenue yesterday. Royal taking first lease
of the wicket made a respectable 252 all out in 51.5 overs. Left hander
Imal Liyanage top scored for Royal with a fine knock of 55 runs
inclusive of eleven boundaries and two sixes while Hashen Ramanayake
made 51 with six hits to the ropes and one over it. Later in the innings
Chamika Karunaratne hit out lustily to score 50 not out with five
boundaries and one six. Spinners Ramitha Liyanaarachchi (three for 63)
and Julian de Zilwa (five for 57) restricted the Royalists.
St Peter's in reply, helped by a sparkling knock of 119 runs by
skipper Shehan Fernando scored 224 for eight by the close , Fernando had
14 boundaries and five sixes in his knock.
He was well supported by Janith Liyanage who made 66 with eight hips
to the ropes and one over it. Paceman Chamika Karunaratne turned in a
fine all round performance by capturing three wickets for 44. He was
well supported by paceman Anupa Tillakaratne (two for 35) and Left arm
leg spinner Devin Pathmanathan ( two for 65).
The match will resume today at 9.30 a m.

St Sebastian's College, Moratuwa has already gained a first innings
win over Isipatana Vidyalaya, Colombo in their inter-school under 19
cricket match played at Surrey Grounds, Maggona.
Batting first Isipatana were all out for 138 runs with Heshan
Jayakumara making the top score of 45 runs. At the end of the day, the
Sebs were 186 for 5 with Anushka Perera scoring 45 runs. Sangeeth Cooray
and Anuk Fernando were unbeaten on 35 and 38 runs respectively.

Cambrians in command

Shanuka Dulaj with a fine all round performance of 67 runs with six
fours and claiming 3 for 17 put Prince of Wales College in a healthy
position in their inter-school under 19 cricket match against Ananda
College, Colombo played at Moratuwa.
Taking the first lease Anandians were all out for 160 runs with
Dilshan Wimaladharma top scoring with 76 runs with eight fours and four
sixes.
In reply Cambrians were 203 for 5 at the end of the day one with a
patient knock of unbeaten 54 runs by skipper Tarindu Dilshan who faced
121 balls and occupied the crease for 185 minutes.

Dharmaraja College, Kandy 'A' cricket team scored 296 against Sri
Rahula College, Katugastota 'A' team in their annual cricket match which
commenced at Lake View, Kandy yesterday.
Tharusha Weragoda missed his century by four runs when he unluckily
got out at 96. At close, Sri Rahula was 23 for 2 wickets.
Dharmaraja 'A': 296 in 78 overs (Tharusha Weragoda 96, Sumudu
Wijeratne 66, K Jayasuriya 3 for 49, S C Bandara 2 for 40, S M Asela 2

Innings win for Gurukula

Gurukula Vidyalaya, Kelaniya trounced formidable Maris Stella
College, Negombo by an innings and 24 runs to register their sixth
outright victory for the season in nine matches in their inter-school
under 19 cricket tournament match concluded at Prisons grounds, Colombo.
Resuming at 202 for 8 Gurukula were all out for 219 runs with Sathira
Dileepa capturing 6 for 86 and in their second essay Maris Stella were
skittled out for a paltry 118 runs with Roshan Anuruddha claiming 3 for
22.

St Sylvester's College, Kandy gained first innings win over Panadura
Royal College in their Division I cricket tournament match concluded at
Dambulla International Stadium yesterday.
Overnight batsman Sumedha Dissanayake who was on 82 not out on the
previous day completed his century when he scored 101 for St
Sylvester's.
St Sylvester's, Kandy: 285 in 105 overs (Sumedha Dissanayake 101,
Harsha Madushan 42, Waruna Wijesinghe 51, Ravindu Hashan 5 for 107,
