'Political parties should join hands for lasting solution'

All political parties and groups should join hands and try to find a lasting solution to the national problem with an open mind, shelving communal feelings and the separate state concept, said Most Ven Niyangoda Sri Vijithasiri Anunayake Thera of the Malwatte Chapter.

The Anunayake Thera said that it was by learning from past experiences as a nation that we should try to resolve this issue. If any person or group tries to achieve petty aims by using this issue, it would be a great injustice to people belonging to all communities in this country, he said.

He said that undoubtedly there should be devolution of power, but it should be done in a manner which would not cause harm to the country's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
