Dhamma education is key to inculcate a sense of love, compassion and
tolerance in young minds. Dhamma school teachers provide a noble service
by imparting Dhamma knowledge to young generations without even
receiving a remuneration, said Ven Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma thera,
Chief Sanghanayake of Colombo and Chilaw divisions and Kelaniya
University Chancellor.
The thera was speaking at the 40th anniversary meeting of Sri
Dhammarathana Dhamma school of the Sri Nagala historical temple, Ussawa,
Melsiripura.
The thera said; "We can achieve fulfilment only through
enlightenment. For this we need the guidance of the Dhamma through which
we can understand the value of humanity." No one can expect to reap
benefits by propagating evil.
Foreign intellectuals get frustrated after following the path of
materialism and go to Buddhist countries to engage in meditation to
attempt to understand the real goals of life, the thera added.
The thera said, the government has given great recognition to Dhamma
schools which guide younger generations to become worthy citizens.
