Practice Prophet's message of peace, says - Fowzie

The essence of Prophet Muhammed's teachings is peace and peacedful co-existence, said Senior Minister for Urban Affairs Alhaj A.H.M. Fowzie.

Minister A.H.M. Fowzie

Senior Minister Fowzie in a message to mark Prophet Muhammed's birthday said; "The proper manner of celebrating the birth of the Holy Prophet is to uphold the message brought by him and to practise it in our daily life. The essence of his teachings is peace and peaceful co-existence.

It is therefore a duty of every Muslim to do his best to establish peace among people of our country.

"We must be mindful of the fact that the road to prosperity and happy life is peace. At a time our country is marching towards economic prosperity and changes of our lifestyle to better, the teachings of our Holy Prophet (Sal) become very relevant.

"The birth of Prophet Muhammed (Sal) brought about a change in social structure, establishing human dignity and honour. His teachings were aimed at liberating the masses from their sufferings and guiding them to lead peaceful life.

"We, as a community ever inclined to seek peace and prosperity for our country, should be happy that His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa has taken some constructive measures to end the half a century-old discords among different communities and to carry forward the country to attain lasting peace and prosperity.

"I, therefore, appeal to my fellow Muslims throughout the country to do everything within their means to foster mutual understanding and peace among all communities so that we can be proud partners of the Nation's success.

"Let's pray to Allah to make our aspirations a reality."
