Queens College of City University in New York will partner with Sri
Lankan universities to develop an educational relationship. City
University Student Affairs Vice President Dr Joe Bertolino on a recent
visit to three Sri Lankan universities said that he met Vice Chancellors
of Peradeniya, Colombo and Moratuwa to discuss creating global partners
and cultural exchanges. He hoped to engage the three universities in
scholarship, research and information exchanges, the college hopes to
create a series of student and visiting faculty exchanges in the near
future.
He said each academic year, Queens College sends students to
countries throughout the world, to study the respective culture which
gives an immense exposure to both parties.
He said the students at Queens spent four weeks in January and six
weeks this past summer visiting Italy, France, Japan, Cuba and other
countries under the guidance of the faculty, to understand the rich
history, traditions and cultures of other nations.
He said it was a pleasure to visit Sri Lanka and meet with Moratuwa
University Vice Chancellor A Jayawardane, Colombo University Vice
Chancellor K Hirimburegama and Peradeniya University Vice Chancellor A.
Abayakoon and appreciated the warm welcome and hospitality received from
each institution. The Vice Chancellors of the three universities will
prepare MoUs soon course to take this program forward. |
