The government has taken numerous measures to accelerate development in the North and East and its fast track implementation of Uthuru Wasanthaya and Negenahira Navodaya programmes are giving the hope of regaining the past glory in the provinces.

The people in Kilinochci are optimistic of the development taking place to reshape their lives where for a long time they did not have proper opportunity to prosperity.

We are happy that the government is paying attention to speed up the development of the North and the East and improve the living standards of people.

Development activities have a positive impact on our lives and we look forward to the same level of progress similar to other parts of the country, a business community member told Daily News Business.

The youth are provided with openings to further their skills while the continuous development process have paved way for job opportunities and livelihood development, he said.

Kilinochchi town is also witnessing major transformation in terms of infrastructure upgrading such as electricity, roads and water supply.

The city is bustling with activities and people are busy going about their normal lifestyle with the restoring of peace and enjoying the fruits of the war coming to an end, which has made it possible to return to normalcy in the once war-torn area.
