Initially they have made arrangements for Sri Lankans to play for
clubs in England. Champaka Ramanayaka, Dhammika Ranathunga and Ashley de
Silva are a few players who were benefited. The SLCAUK have also been
providing cricket equipment to selected rural schools annually. Schools
in Kandy, Colombo, Trincomalee, Jaffna, Nawalapitiya and Gampola have
received equipment in the past. This year Vijayaba National School in
Hungama, Walasmulla National School and Bandagiriya Maha Vidyalaya all
in the Hambantota province received cricketing gear from them.
President of the Association Dr Ananda Thevadasan, secretary Upali de
Zoysa and past presidents and present coordinators Sirath Kasturirathna
and Mahen Perera together with Dr Kimali de Zoysa made
the presentations at a ceremony held at Vijayaba National School
recently. |
