Novices swimming meet at Thurstan

Thurstan College Aquatic Sports Club with the assistance of Education Ministry will conduct their second age category Novices Swimming meet from January 27 to 29 at the school's swimming pool.

Around 900 girls and boys participated in the inaugural event last year and over 1500 swimmers expected to take part this year including North and East school boys and girls. With the aim to popularize swimming as a sport throughout the country's school fraternity organizers made compulsory to send all entries through their respective schools.

The overall boys and girls champions will be awarded the Gration Gunawardane and Maj. Gen, Dr., Dudly Perera Challenge trophies while the age category best swimmers will also receive trophies.
