NYSC to conduct moonlight marathon race

For the first time in the history of the National Youth Services Council a new event moonlight marathon race will be introduced to Sports Programme of the NYSC 2012.

This is a unknown sports event to Sri Lanka. This is more or less a mini marathon race. The distance of the race is 21 km.

The marathon will be held on March 8. The race will be conducted within the Colombo Municipality area. Moonlight marathon is an open event.

There will be two separate races for sportsman and sports women.

One sportsman and sportswomen from each SAARC country are being invited to grace the race.

The moonlight mini marathon race will be ended at Galle Face Green and the awards and rewards presentation will be held in open air stage built at the Galle Face Green under the distinguished patronage of the Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dallas Alahapperuma.
