Chatura Wanniarachchi did a great deal with his batting, scoring 82 runs for Mahanama College against Sri Sumangala Vidyalaya Panadura in their inter-schools cricket match played at Maggona ground, Kalutara yesterday.

Mahanama were 370 for eight in 62.3 overs with the help of Chatura Wanniarachchi’s 82 and Dulanja Silva’s 66 runs. Anju Tharaka was the most impressive bowler for the Sumangala team with 4 for 86.

In reply, Sri Sumangala were 113 for five wickets at close of first day’s play. Aruna Dharmasena helped Sumangala with 61 runs. Janaka Dayananda bagged two wickets for 14 runs.

The match will resume at 9.30am today.

Mahanama: 370/8 (Chathura Wanniarachchi 82, Dulanja Silva 66, Janaka Dayananda 53, Duleeka Tissakuttige 41, Naveen Silva 41, Chathura Jayasinghe 25, Anju Tharaka 4 for 86, Aruna Dharmasena 2 for 95)

Sri Sumangala: 113/5 (Aruna Dharmasena not out 61, Janaka Dayananda 2 for 14)
