Father commits suicide with child

A man committed suicide with his child by jumping into a well in Panadura yesterday morning.

Kolambage Dayan Darshana Fernando, 41, of Waththalapola, Panadura cuddling his daughter Piumi Minnadi Fernando, 18 months, jumped into a well and committed suicide, the Police said.

The bodies, removed by Panadura North Police, were taken to the Panadura Hospital mortuary for the postmortem.

Panadura North Police are investigating.

According to the man's family members, a doctor had told Fernando that his child was suffering from an incurable disease and this would have been reason for him to commit suicide.
