Easy for Trinity

Trinity College, Kandy registered their sixth outright win for the season by defeating Sri Sumangala College, Panadura by an innings and 10 runs in their school under 19 cricket tournament match played at the Asgiriya stadium, Kandy yesterday.

Highlight of the match was the left arm spin bowling of Alwin Fernando who took 6 for 24 and 5 for 48 to return the excellent match figures of 11 for 72. Alwin Fernando usually bowls left arm medium pace and opens the attack but in this he switched to spin and met with astounding success.

Trinity College 308 for 9 declared.

Sri Sumangala College (167 for 7 overnight) 174 all out in 45.1 overs (A Tharaka 51, Arun Dharmasena 50, Alwin Fernando 6 for 24, Amrith Srimahan 2 for 51) and 124 all out in 48.5 overs (Madawa Salaranga 69, Alwin Fernando 5 for 48, Akila Jayasundera 2 for 24).
