New food regulations and SLSI seminar

The Import Section of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in association with the Ministry of Health and Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI) will hold a seminar on the new food regulations and the Sri Lanka Standards on January 27, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 5.p.m. at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Auditorium.

The government recently approved a series of new food regulations under the Food Act of Sri Lanka to protect consumers from adulterated food and food that is injurious to health. Dr T B Ananda Jayalal, Director Ministry of Health, Mrs W N N Satharasinghe, Sri Lanka Standards Institution and Dr Sanath Mahawithanage, Manager Nutrition & Regulatory Affairs - Fonterra Brands Lanka will address the gathering.

A panel discussion will be held with the participation of industry experts. It will be an ideal opportunity for all stakeholders in the food industry such as importers, FMCG companies, distributors, manufacturers, printers, packaging material suppliers and advertising agencies.
