CIC introduces seed coating technology

CIC Agri Businesses has introduced seed coating technology to the
local Agriculture with an ambition to improve productivity. Use of high
quality seed is the fastest way to improve the productivity and CIC seed
is committed to accomplish this task.
CIC Agri Business (Pvt) Limited Director Waruna Madawanarachchi told
Daily News that this new technology offer several advantages including
produce healthy seeds, control seed born diseases, and provide
protection to tiny seedling from pest and diseases in the fist two-three
weeks, improve plantability and others.
Types of seed treatments are seed coating, seed encrusting and seed
palleting. Seed coating technology is not new thing for world as well as
Sri Lanka. "Many Sri Lankan farmers have used this technology for many
years to obtained healthy crops. They used many treatments such as
soaking paddy in salt water, breaking hard seed coat, mixing with ash to
produce healthy and vigorous seedling," he said.
CIC Agri Business manages over 10,000 Acres of its own Farm land and
livestock farms throughout the country including North and East. There
are over 20,000 farmers have already engaged in the manufacturing of
agriculture and livestock products such as seed paddy, rice, fruits,
vegetables, eggs, yoghurt, curd.
