Beware when banking on-line

Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT) announced that there are several fake sites operating targeting on-line banking customers of major banks in Sri Lanka. They warned the public to carry out their banking carefully when using the on-line facility.

Persons using the on-line system when dealing with banks should be careful about the mail they receive which may ask them to click on a given link and enter the user ID or account number and password to reactivate the accounts. The SLCERT stressed that if someone receives such mails not to click on the given links in the mail, not to enter the user ID and password and to immediately call the bank and inform them about this.
