President inspects Deyata Kirula progress

President Mahinda Rajapaksa inspected the construction of the Deyata Kirula exhibition site yesterday. The 2012 Deyata Kirula exhibition will be held in Oyamadu, Anuradhapura in line with the Independence Day celebrations from February 4 to 9.

Participating in the observation tour, President Rajapaksa instructed officials to establish a seed farm for traditional crops at the model farm premises. The President ordered Finance Ministry officials to allocate funds to establish the seed farm, which will spread over 10 acres.

President Rajapaksa also instructed officials to provide 80 families with a half acre land for cultivation. This was following several members from these families requesting the President to offer them a plot of land for cultivation while he was participating in the observation tour.

President Rajapaksa also observed the construction of paddy store complexes.

Three paddy stores are being constructed at the Deyata Kirula premises. Each paddy store will be able to store 40,000 Mt of paddy.
