CEB work-to-rule campaign called off

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Employees’ Union yesterday decided to suspend their work- to- rule campaign demanding a 45 percent salary hike.

CEB trade union spokesman Ranjan Jayalal said the unions had reached an agreement to launch a token strike in the future.

Meanwhile, over 20 CEB Trade Unions attached to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party including the Sri Lanka Nidahas Sewaka Sangamaya and CEB Technological Engineers’ Union said yesterday that they will accept the 25 percent salary hike offered by the government.

These facts were revealed at a special press briefing organized by the Trade Union representatives who said that they will not allow anyone to disrupt the power supply.
